| Is your web site doing it for you?
Someone recently told me her web site wasn't "doing anything". It stimulated me to remind
everyone of a few simple rules to follow in order to receive the benefits of a web presence.
 | Rule #1
If you are not doing anything to drive visitors to your site, don't expect new visitors. |
 | Rule #2
If your web site does not change on a regular basis, don't expect return visitors. |
 | Rule #3
If you do not respond to inquiries from your web site in a timely basis, don't expect business from your web
site. |
It wouldn't be fair if I didn't provide you with some solutions.
 | Rule #1: Solution: Round them up and keep them coming back.
Create and send a newsletter (like this one) to your clients. Include an opt-in field on your site to allow
visitors to provide you with their email address. Additionally, allow them to provide you as much information
about themselves as they would like so you can micro-market to them with exactly the products
in
which they are interested.
Have your site submitted to search engines. Spearhead optimizes sites and submits them over one thousand
search engines regularly and aggressively. There is no silver bullet here, no one is going to get you
"to the top of all the major search engines" in 7 days for $195. It's not possible. Some search
engines do offer pay services for an annual fee.
|
 | Rule#2: Solution: Web sites are a dynamic media. Change them often.
Spearhead offers it's clients inexpensive maintenance contracts in order to allow them to professionally
change their site on a regular basis. Whether it be a new product, an upcoming presentation or a picture
of the entire office in July 4th garb, make the changes to keep them coming back for more.
|
 | Rule#3: Solution: Respond, provide, follow up
Take web site inquiries very seriously. People judge who you are by how you do business. If you
didn't return a phone call from a potential buyer how would that reflect on your company? Assign someone
the job of responding or directing web site inquiries to the proper person. Follow up.
Spearhead can create auto-responders that will automatically send an pre-designed email response letting them
know their message was sent to the proper party and to expect a reply very soon. Using a form to contact
you as opposed to a standard email link will provide you with an archived copy of the message on the web
server for future reference. |

site work for you.

| Viruses and Worms
It's been a record year for us at Spearhead and virus/worm detecting. Will these maligned hackers ever stop?
No, probably never.
It is so crucial we all keep our virus definitions up to date to avoid downtime and unnecessary IT expenses.
If you haven't caught W32.KLEZ and it's variants more than a few times, consider yourself unprotected or
bulletproof. News on the latest viruses and worms can be found at Symantec's web site:
